WHAT IS THE COVID-19 + FLU + RSV COMBO TEST?
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, IGeneX has become a leading testing lab for schools, employers, professional sports teams, assisted living facilities, and many other organizations across the US. We are now happy to add Flu and RSV testing to our test offerings, which utilize the same highly accurate RT-PCR technology from IGeneX.
The COVID-19 + Flu + RSV Combo Test uses TaqMan SARS-CoV-2, Flu A/B and RSV RT-PCR Assay Kits in conjunction with the MagMAX Viral/Pathogen Nucleic Acid Isolation Kit from Thermo Fisher. Real Time RT-PCR assays are performed and results are interpreted using the Applied Biosystems QuantStudio 12 Real-Time PCR Instrument for detection of SARS-CoV-2, Flu A/B and RSV specific RNA in clinical samples.

IGeneX will provide test kits, as well as guidance on how to collect specimens and organize transportation of specimens to IGeneX.
Get Results
Results will be provided between 24-36 hours after receipt of samples. Results will be reported to County and State Health Departments where required.
WHAT IS RSV?
RSV, or Respiratory Syncytial Virus, is a common winter virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms that typically appear in stages, not all at once. Symptoms can include runny nose, loss of appetite, coughing, sneezing and wheezing. Some people with RSV may have a fever, but not everyone. RSV can be very serious for infants, older adults, or anyone with respiratory issues.
RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lung) and pneumonia (infection of the lungs) in children younger than 1 year of age in the United States.
2022/2023 FLU SEASON IS TRENDING TOWARD RECORD LEVELS
The 2022-2023 season is shaping up to be more severe than in the past few years. It might even be worse than seasons before COVID-19.
Even before flu season began, back in spring 2022, cases of influenza began trending well above average for the past three years, reaching nearly 950,000 cases weekly by mid-October (compared to around 400,000 at the same time in 2019, just before the pandemic began).
Influenza is associated with serious illnesses, hospitalizations, and deaths, particularly among older adults, very young children, pregnant persons, and persons of all ages with certain chronic medical conditions.
