ACUDART STANDS TALL
AcuDart tests are among the most accurate tests available for the major tick-borne illnesses. Their sensitivity of just above 83% is considerably higher than other methods such as PCR and the ELISA/Western blot two-tier testing protocol that is recommended by the CDC and followed by many commercial laboratories. AcuDart is also superior to specialty labs that focus on tick-borne illnesses.
The only tests that have a higher sensitivity than AcuDart are the ImmunoBlots from IGeneX. However, IGeneX ImmunoBlots are more expensive and cannot be purchased without physician authorization.

ACUDART VS. IGENEX IMMUNOBLOT
As good as the AcuDart tests are, they do have limitations when compared to the IGeneX ImmunoBlot. For instance, AcuDart tests look for both IgM and IgG antibodies, but they do not distinguish between them. They also do not provide speciation like an IGeneX ImmunoBlot will do. AcuDart tests only provide a Positive/Negative result.
Because of these limitations, AcuDart tests are considered screening tests. If an AcuDart test is negative, most doctors will consider it a true negative. If the test is positive, many doctors will want more information on IgM/IgG and species in order to prescribe the best treatment, and many will then opt to get ImmunoBlot testing.
Having said that, the AcuDart tests are far superior to other at home tests, such as those from CVS or Everlywell, or even those from commercial labs.
