IGeneX is no longer performing COVID testing for travel. We apologize for the inconvenience.
The perfect solution for airline travelers or other individuals with time-sensitive testing needs who need rapid results.
5-STAR COVID-19 TESTING
NOTE: Tests must be ordered at least one day in advance. Also, you must physically be here for testing. We cannot accept mail-in samples for this testing. If you live within driving distance of Milpitas, California you are welcome to schedule a test. This is the only location we have. In addition, IGeneX is not yet a Trusted Partner with Hawaii and China, so we cannot provide assistance with travel to Hawaii or China.
IMPORTANT: For 24 Hour tests, the “Date of Collection” and “Date of Result” listed on the report may be the same day. For example, if you are tested on 2/8/2021, and receive your result on 2/9/2021, your report may have “Date of Collection” and “Date of Result” listed as 2/8/2021 because 2/8/2021 is when your test was processed by the lab. This is dependent on the volume of tests we are able to process. Please keep this in mind when determining how far in advance to schedule your test.
ARE YOU SYMPTOMATIC? If you are experiencing any symptoms such as fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, please do not order a test below. Instead, inquire about testing through the Milpitas Fire Department. They are better equipped to handle symptomatic individuals. Results from testing through the Milpitas Fire Department will be physically mailed to you within 72 hours after sample collection.
IGeneX is pleased to offer RT-PCR COVID-19 testing services for individuals with time-sensitive testing needs. This can be especially helpful for travelers who require proof of a negative COVID-19 test result upon entry. Please be sure to check the policy of the state or country you are visiting for their latest COVID-19 regulations. Because IGeneX is a CLIA certified lab authorized to perform RT-PCR testing, our COVID-19 tests meet the strict requirements set forth by many local, state, national, and international governing bodies to verify whether someone has an active infection. However, our tests are not currently approved for travel to Hawaii.
After your sample and Test Requisition Form are collected, IGeneX will process your order and deliver the test results to you via secured email within the specified time. If traveling, you will be able to upload or display your test result to the proper authority.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING RAPID COVID-19 TESTS
IGeneX’s Same-Day and 24-Hour COVID-19 tests are RT-PCR tests, which are considered the gold standard for COVID-19 testing, and the results are accepted for most Domestic and International travel, except for Hawaii and possibly other destinations. Many COVID-19 tests are rapid antigen tests, which are statistically less accurate than RT-PCR tests. Recent reports also detail how these rapid tests can give false negative results (meaning you test negative but are actually infected), as well as false positive results (meaning you do not have the virus but test positive). We strongly recommend choosing an RT-PCR COVID-19 test, whether that is through IGeneX or another lab.
Yes and no. If you have the Delta or Omicron variants, you will likely test positive on our COVID-19 tests, so from that standpoint, yes we test for the variants. However, neither our tests, nor any other commercially available COVID-19 tests, can report the specific strain or variant of COVID-19, such as delta, mu, lambda, kappa or other. But since the majority of cases are Delta or Omicron, it’s likely that a positive test result indicates you could be infected with one of these variants.
To test for the Delta or Omicron variant, a specific type of COVID-19 test is required — genomic sequencing. Genomic sequencing decodes the coronavirus’ complete set of genes and searches for new mutations. It also matches known variants. Labs at some state and local health departments have access to genomic sequencing.
IGeneX COVID-19 tests are RT-PCR tests, which are the gold standard of COVID-19 testing and accepted for most Domestic and International travel, except for Hawaii and possibly other destinations. Please be sure to check with your destination about which tests, from which laboratories, are acceptable.
