AVAILABLE POSITIONS
As a Life Science Research Associate will be specifically responsible for performing the following duties:
– Characterize molecular mechanism involved in the development and progression of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) related disorders due to tick-borne
pathogen infection, using multi-omics approaches
– Induce pluripotent stem cell reprogramming and culture from patients’ blood cells to model ME/CFS disorder
– Involvement in a multi-omics study and use a wide range of laboratory techniques to epigenetic data and perform functional studies to uncover the epigenetic landscape associated to
the etiology of chronic fatigue syndrome
– Generate iPSC cell lines from patients’ blood cells to better study genetics and environmental risk factors associated with the development of CFS in a dish model.
– Perform RNA and DNA extraction from PBMCs; cell culture and iPSC generation; qPCR and RTPCR; Western blot; cell imaging; In situ hybridization; DNA methylation profiling; and
metabolic profiling assays, and be involved in plasma and PBMC isolation from participants.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Biomedical Science, Biological Science or a closely related field and 3 years of experience performing life science research and techniques including qPCR, RNA extraction, and cell culturing. Position also requires 1 year of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) with the following: Working in a laboratory focused on studying Chronic Fatigue as related to Tick-Borne Relapsing Fever and Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization technique (FISH); performing human cell culture techniques, including specifically working with iPSC and reprogramming; Human plasma and PBMC isolation and DNA/RNA extraction; working with Eukaryotic cell culture – including maintenance of cell lines, proliferation assays, light microscopy and other imaging techniques; experience working with nanoparticle Pharmacokinetics, Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) targeted to RNA, western blot, qPCR, single cell proteomics, DNA/RNA extraction, cellular metabolism and proliferation assays and imaging techniques; and interpreting and performing analyses of results using programing languages such as R – Technical writing experience in SOP’s, protocols, reports and utilization.
Alternatively, we will accept a Master’s degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Biomedical Science, Biological Science or a closely related field and 1 year of experience performing life science research and techniques including qPCR, RNA extraction, and cell culturing.
