Diagnosis of a TBD based on clinical grounds is very challenging because symptoms of a TBD can mimic many other diseases. These diseases can also affect any organ of the body, including the brain and nervous system, muscles and joints, and the heart. Only with accurate and reliable testing can you determine if you have a TBD. Treating TBDs is also challenging. Antibiotics aren’t recommended for every tick bite, and long-term use can have serious complications. The type of treatment depends on the disease, and most patients see the best results using a combination of treatment approaches.
