WHAT IS POOLED TESTING FOR COVID-19?
For OSHA surveillance testing to be conducted in high volume, IGeneX will pool five swabs into one Viral Transport Medium tube. This maintains the specificity and sensitivity of the RT-PCR COVID test and eliminates the risk of false negative often seen with less sensitive rapid antigen tests.
If a sample in the tube tests positive, then individual specimens will be collected for each person to determine which individual(s) are positive.

Many COVID-19 tests are rapid antigen tests, which are statistically less accurate than RT-PCR tests.
